Dmitri Shostakovich was conceived on September 25, 1906 in St. Petersburg Russia. He was the second of 3 children from Sofia Kokalouina (musician), and Dmitri Boleslavovich Shostrakovich (substance engineer). Dmitris mother, Sofia, showed him how to play the piano at age 9, and Dmitri stood apart as a wonder.
